This is an edited version of a paper I wrote in my final year of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. Enjoy!
Abstract This project is a study of the Vibrations of Sacred Space, with particular emphasis on elements of both classical Newtonian and Quantum Physics. The methodology used was a literature review. The project examines concepts of Sacred Space in different cultures, and looks for the common threads across the cultures as well as those that are in harmony with the laws of physics as they apply to Sacred Space and healing. Practical examples are given that will easily allow the reader to have a visceral experience of the vibrations of Sacred Space by showing how to perceive and distinguish different vibrations using the hands. Another example shows one possible way of creating Sacred Space remotely through the use of an energetic “template.” The reader will see that the various aspects of classical Newtonian and Quantum Physics are at play in Sacred Space, and that an understanding of these concepts will lead to a deeper understanding and communion with the space. Introduction Laws of physics seem to govern the physical world. The most commonly known are referred to as Newtonian physics, named after Sir Isaac Newton. In recent times Quantum physics, and new discoveries about space and time, and the way our universe works, have compelled us to take a new look at how we relate to both ourselves and our living spaces. Webster's definition of
"Sacred" refers to anything that is “...set apart by solemn
religious ceremony; dedicated to religious use; holy; not profane or common;
[...] consecrated; dedicated; [...] entitled to the highest respect or
reverence; venerable; not to be profaned or violated...” But what mechanism is
set into motion to create Sacred Space? It
is clear to those sensitive enough to sense it, that when you are in a space
that has been prepared and set aside as Sacred Space it feels very harmonious.
The intention of its creator can be varied; depending on what is
necessary for the space. This paper will discuss some of the physics involved in the creation of Sacred Space; what common elements are present in Sacred Space across different cultures; and how you can get a more visceral experience of the vibrations of Sacred Space. The title of this paper reflects my own passion for, and sensitivity to, the vibrations in the spaces we inhabit. In writing this paper, it is absolutely essential for me to include and honor my passion for the physics of Sacred Space, and that is where we will start. It is important to truly understand some of the laws of physics so that we can know what mechanism is involved in the creation of Sacred Space. We begin with definitions for some of the aspects of energy that are present in space and time discussed in this paper. Frequency, Vibration, Amplitude, Polarity, Harmony, Resonance: Frequency is the term used to describe the nature of energy to cycle from its state of rest, to one extreme, back through its state of rest, to another extreme, and finally back to its state of rest, in a specified amount of time. In sound, this is measured in cycles per second (CPS). So, the first four notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony are 392 CPS, 392 CPS, 392 CPS, and 311 CPS! When measuring electromagnetic energy, it is measured in Hertz (Hz) (after it’s discoverer, Heinrich Hertz), which is the same as CPS. If a frequency is “higher,” vibrations will feel finer; if they are “lower,” the vibrations will seem coarser. Of course, if the frequency is very low, it may not seem like a vibration. But it is. If you look at the lower image in the frequency illustration, imagine as the line goes higher from its starting point at the far left, that your awareness of the pulse of life increases; and as the line descends down below the center line that your awareness decreases. Even the word “Pulse” suggests a rising and falling rhythm of life. Vibration is the term used to describe mechanical, electromagnetic, or other forms of energy that are resonating at any frequency. Every person, place, or thing in the physical world has a rate of vibration. This includes light, which is electromagnetic energy. Electromagnetic energy is also what we radiate, as anyone looking at us with a infrared night scope will attest -- therefore, we radiate light. When healers are “following the wave,” or listening to a life pulse, they are tuned in to a very slow vibration (see example above). It is very easy to feel the vibration of the different foods you eat; and you can easily feel the same vibration in your body after you eat it. (See: Feeling the Vibration of Food) It is not uncommon to hear people referring to someone’s “vibes,” yet most people who mention it really do not understand it other than to say they like the vibes or don’t like them. Just as everything has a rate of vibration in the physical world, everything has a vibration in the spiritual world. Spirit has a very high vibration... (See: The Vibration of Spirit) The vibration of both food and Spirit are discussed at length later in this paper. Amplitude is the term used to describe how far each half cycle will go from its state of rest before returning to that state of rest. The higher the amplitude, the greater the energy swing. In sound, higher amplitude means LOUDER! In electromagnetic terms, higher amplitude denotes more power; and lower amplitude means less, or more subtle energy. If the amplitude is higher, the vibrations you feel will seem very strong.
Polarity describes the values of the two extremes of the frequency of vibrations in terms of positive or negative energy. It is important to note that a particular electromagnetic frequency can be vibrating well above or below a state of zero energy; so both extremes could be greater and lesser positive energy, or negative energy. It means that the state of rest is relative. Likewise, the state of rest might be zero; in this case the energy would be cycling back and forth from positive to negative. In terms of the four states of running energy, it is easy to imagine that pushing energy out from you could be thought of as all positive energy with a positive state of rest, and pulling energy toward you could be thought of as negative with a negative state of rest. The intention to stop energy from flowing, or allowing energy to flow in whatever way, would be varying degrees of energy cycling back and forth across the zero state. Harmony is two or more frequencies that compliment each other. It is a symphony, with all instruments perfectly tuned and playing their part. Compatibility, symmetry, oneness, peace, coordination are all words that relate to harmony. A harmonic frequency of vibration is a multiple of a particular frequency that, if in sufficient amplitude, can get something with a similar, or sympathetic frequency of vibration to begin vibrating with a higher amplitude. This is an important concept with respect to healing! In other words, you do not need to match a frequency in order to amplify it; you simply need to be in harmony with it. This principle is absolutely universal, and applies to the vibrations of thought, emotion, or physical sensation; and also applies to your connection with Spirit. This aspect of energy is largely responsible for the phenomena where a healer will “take on” the pain of a client. In this case, the healer is usually making an assumption that he or she must feel the pain to be “tuned in” to it. This is not a valid assumption because of Wave Mechanics, explained later. Suffice to say that the healer would be doing both of them a favor by modifying his or her vibrations to a different frequency, giving a greater possibility of breaking the pain pattern. Resonance is related to harmony and Wave Mechanics — if a vibration, or a harmonic of a vibration meets something (or someone!) with a similar vibration, it will tend to amplify that vibration. Being into a deep conversation with someone where you both feel deeply that you completely understand each other, is resonance. Any healer really good at listening and contact skills uses the energetic aspect of resonance. Wave Mechanics: If you throw two stones in the water, each one will radiate waves around it. Inevitably, the waves cross each other. There is an entire branch of science dedicated to Wave Mechanics. It is a term used to describe the behavior of all sorts and types of waves; water waves, electromagnetic waves, sound waves, etc. Wave mechanics tell us that where the waves cross, the energy of both is multiplied. Likewise, where one wave is high and one wave is low, they will cancel each other out. Wave Mechanics explains why when we are feeling strong emotions about something that the client is feeling strongly about, the energy is multiplied, and the emotions will be even greater than if you were alone. The same goes for the energy of thought: If you are having strong thoughts about anything, and it matches the client’s thoughts, the power of that thought will seem greater than it actually is. Bell’s Interconnectedness Theorem: John Stewart Bell (deceased) was born and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was a theoretical physicist at CERN (a large accelerator center in Geneva financed by Western European countries) where he specialized in elementary particle physics. In 1964, Bell decided to investigate the Quantum reality question. What he came up with was proof that reality is non-local. How he proved it is available elsewhere What is local, and what is non-local? Simply put, the essence of a local interaction is as basic as stubbing your toe. Body A affects body B locally when A touches B. And most important about a local interaction, and the idea that reality is local, it means that things no longer in contact or communication with each other cannot affect each other. A non-local interaction jumps from body A to body B without touching anything in between. Non-local influences are not affected by fields around A or B, or anything else. When A connects to B non-locally, nothing crosses the intervening space, therefore no amount of matter in between can shield this interaction. Non-local influences do not diminish with distance; they are as potent at one million miles as they are at one inch. Non-local influences act instantaneously, the speed of their transmission is not limited by the velocity of light; in other words, superluminal. These Quantum connections are present and underlie all of the events in everyday life. It is this non-local interaction that healers use to "connect" with the client, whether they are together in the same room, or separated by thousands of miles as with remote healing. Quantum Mechanics: Quantum mechanics points to a connectedness. If something touches something else and then separates, Quantum mechanics sees to it that connections remain between the two. That is to say, observations performed on one object can and do affect the results observed for another object, even if these objects are no longer in apparent physical contact. In fact, the Quantum connection, being superluminal, might very well have been there before the two something’s touched. The reason is for that is that Quantum connections are faster than light; therefore Quantum waves of probability move backwards and forwards in time. The mathematical models for such things are very well defined and understood. (Instant Physics by Tony Rothman, Ph.D., Ch. 7 "Quantum Mechanics") This is an example that supports not only the non-local interaction that is remote healing, but offers an explanation of how changes can be made in past or future events or relationships. A Model for Space-Time: The typical model for time that people imagine is a straight line, with the past on one end and the future on the other. Likewise, the typical model for physical space would show vast distance between a telephone pole in Seattle and one in Miami. Regardless of how it may seem to the casual observer, this model of space and time simply doesn’t work from a quantum or holographic point of view. I have a model for space and time that has emerged from my study of quantum physics and space-time. For time, it consists of a spiral of independent moments, each of which have “spokes” that lead to a central “core” that runs through the center of it. The core represents the eternal NOW. So, the NOW that Benjamin Franklin experienced when he was flying his kite in the lightning storm is the same NOW that you experience reading this paper. It was a different moment, but the same NOW. Using this model, you have connections to all points in time experienced as “PAST,” and all probable points in time that you will experience as “FUTURE.” So much for time, but what about space? Einstein already proved that space and time were tied together, and proved it quite convincingly. The same spiral model for time, with its central core, works for space. The number of texts that declare the universe “holographic” are too numerous to mention, but two of them are Vibrational Medicine by Richard Gerber and Hands of Light by Barbara Brennan. This model supports the holographic aspect of the universe. So, the central core that represents the eternal NOW in a model of time, represents the connection to everything in the universe. Each point in space is represented around the spiral, just as each moment in time is. And each point has its connection (via the “spoke”) to the central core. You could also apply this model to something that looks exactly like a double helix strand of DNA. One helix would represent the Eternal Now; the other helix would represent the perceived flow of time; and the bars between each helix would represent the spokes to the Eternal Now. Thinking of the dimensions of time and space as strands of DNA gives rise to some fascinating thoughts on the nature of life in the Universe. There is an old proverb that states, “Know a grain of sand, and you know the universe in its entirety." In their way, they seem to have been making a reference to the holographic view of the Universe, and this model of time and space. The model supports non-local interactions, because it is clear that a connection exists between every point in space and every moment in time. Healers can take advantage of these connections when doing remote healing. It is important for body workers to understand these concepts and attributes of energy and reality. Why is it so important to understand? Because if the universe truly is holographic, what you do, think, and feel in the healing space and elsewhere for that matter, create ripples throughout time and space and ultimately affect everything in the universe. Both Quantum and Wave Mechanics support that. Again and again, what we have come to know about the physical and spiritual world points to a connectivity, regardless of how it appears to the senses. Sacred Space In Different Cultures Many different cultures throughout the history of humankind have struggled to understand their world. Even though some of them have grown in isolation from the rest, some fascinating "common threads" have emerged that point to similar conclusions. Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui: There are many books and resources on “Feng Shui,” a Chinese system for arranging and setting the energy of living and working spaces. Anyone wishing to learn more about this system will find a wealth of information in libraries and book stores. I will not delve into the many details of this system, other than to say that in all books on Feng Shui you will find a similar “map” or “bagua” of each space. One such bagua is found in a book entitled Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui by Karen Kingston. To use the bagua, you would draw a “cross” or an “X” over a plan of the space, room, house or building. Place the center of the bagua there. Then, swivel the lower edge (The Journey) so that it is aligned with the door where people come in and out of the space. According to Feng Shui, once this is established bagua is established you can then place items in the space that will enhance each of those areas. Note that you can have a bagua inside of another bagua, as in placing one first in a home, then another one in a room in the home. Sacred Space in the Sufi Culture: The perspective of Sufism is one of unifying all levels of existence from the material to the spiritual. What unifies these levels is the human heart. The human heart is the organ of perception through which we become aware of and can interact with Spirit. They believe that the spiritual journey cannot begin unless the “Eye of the heart” is at least slightly open. Only the heart sees from all sides at once and can perceive Oneness. It’s necessary to distinguish the heart as the organ of perception from that which deals with common emotions that are rooted in our egoism, which mostly obscure the knowing of the heat. The spiritual process from this point of view is removing the distorting factors of egoism that veil the heart. This is often described as “Polishing the mirror of the heart”. Anything less than the truth of Oneness leaves us in a maze of conflicting desires fragmented awareness and separative actions. If we are in disarray within ourselves, if our reason, heart and will are without a harmonious center we will find it very difficult to relate to and function harmoniously with our environment. The Koranic proposition that “Wheresoever you look is the face of God” is taken literally, and not merely religious imagination. What has been called active imagination is more real than most people give it credit for. In this culture the imaginal world is an “Interworld” in which visions, which are simultaneously meanings, are experienced by a psycho-spiritual faculty which is the active imagination, or what Sufi’s would simply call the “Heart.” They believe that this level of perception was reliably available only to those souls that were to some extent “Purified.” They believe that Presence is an attribute of the Spirit and, as center, can integrate all the levels of the human being. All true spiritual work is based on the unity of all different aspects of our being. Real healing and real wholeness on the individual level exists when we operate as a whole, when we are not in disabling conflict, emotionally or physically. On the spiritual level, health is realizing that we are integral to this universe; not a part of it, not a microcosm of it, but one with the whole of it, the True Center. The awakened soul is characterized by presence of heart through purified imaginative power the awakened soul raises the earthly to the level of spiritual incandescence. All universes are contained within the experience of human presence. The human heart is the doorway to reality. Everything in existence is in a state of worship naturally, except the human being, for whom it must be a conscious choice. Sacred Space in the Buddhist Culture: The Buddhist culture allows for latitude with respect to one’s spirituality, as is evident by the number of different types and beliefs. There are several points highlighted in Awakening to the Sacred, by Lama Surya Das, that are universally applicable. One point is that essence is contained within form. This is consistent with what is already known about Sacred Geometry, and also agrees with the universally accepted fact that everything is energy. He also warns that form must not become more important than essence. This also applies to the practice of rites and rituals, and the use of altars or other religious symbols. Are they necessary? “...Of course not. But sometimes they help. [...] Reality is the ultimate temple...” With respect to sacred objects the best advice is to find something that is sacred to you. The important part is that what is sacred and how you create that space is a highly individual thing. Therefore, you can’t be antagonistic toward spiritual practices that seem different, alien or foreign. You must create your own sacred daily practice. Sacred Space in the Hawaiian “Adventurer” Shamanistic Tradition: I regret not having more space to write about this fascinating culture; the sheer number of parallels to modern day thought about metaphysical reality are too numerous to be ignored. The study of this culture via the excellent book Urban Shaman, by Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., should be required reading for all body workers. There are seven Hawaiian Adventurer Shamanistic principles and corollaries that explain, very succinctly, their view of reality. The first is the world is what you think it is. This includes the thought that, depending on your attitude, a problem can be an obstacle or a challenge; and the metaphysical idea that thoughts will telepathically attract their equivalent. One corollary to this that everything is a dream. They believe that life is a dream; and that in fact, we dream our lives into being. That doesn’t mean that life is an illusion, it means that dreams are real and reality is a dream. Another corollary to this principle is that all systems are arbitrary. What really matters is not whether a particular systems is true, which is an arbitrary concept, but rather how well it works for you. The next principle is that there are no limits; that the universe is infinite. This has three corollaries which are that everything is connected, that anything is possible, and that separation is a useful illusion. The latter stems from the experience of some people who get so caught up in the idea that their slightest thought or action would create unforeseen consequences. At such times it is healthy to inject a little creative separation in order to function better. Another principle is that energy flows where attention goes; and its two corollaries that attention goes where energy flows and everything is energy. The next principle is that now is the moment of power; that it is your beliefs, decisions, and actions today about yourself and the world around you that give you what you have and make you what you are. Karma exists and operates only in the present moment. A corollary to this is that everything is relative. This has to do with how we define what “Now” is. The most practical definition given is: the area or range of present attention. Another corollary is that power increases with sensory attention. The next principle is to love is to be happy with. What this really means is to be deeply in love means to be deeply connected, and the depth and clarity of the connection increase as fear, anger and doubt are removed. Corollaries to this principle are that love increases as judgment decreases; and that everything is alive, aware and responsive. Another principle is that all power comes from within and its corollary that everything has power. To be more precise, everything has the SAME power! The final principle is that effectiveness is the measure of truth. Absolute truth and ultimate reality are dismissed as having no practical value. Healing is the goal and effectiveness is the criteria, not the proving of a particular system or method. Another Viewpoint on the Sacred: I felt compelled to include a wonderful viewpoint provided by Shaun McNiff and his excellent book Earth Angels. Basically, he sees angels, or spirits in EVERYTHING. This is consistent with what we already know about energy and consciousness. He states that the forces of the creative spirit do not stay fixed within tidy boundaries. They impinge upon us and one another. He also states that what’s in the imagination also exists in the physical world, although perhaps not physically present in the moment. The experience of an angel requires an interplay of imagination and the senses. The physical thing does not necessarily exist as an angel until it is experienced imaginally. Whenever he engages a painting, his relationship to it changes and different images or spirits emanate from that interaction. This is the way he approaches the interpretation of the physical world. The powers of imagination are intimately connected to longing, and from the history of the world’s monastic disciplines we see how the life of imagination becomes the object of its own yearning. He states that by thinking imaginatively about ordinary things, giving special attention to the details of our lives with the realization that angels congregate when we leave our usual perspectives on things, and ourselves, to contemplate “Otherness.” Thoughts and feelings are generated by spaces; and any thoughts or feelings you may think in a particular space are not necessarily generated from inside yourself. Here is another common thread that supports the notion that events and actions that have occurred in the past are carried as memory in the spaces we inhabit. He believes that the soul corresponds to its landscape, and that we absorb the spirits of the places we inhabit. Objects convey energy,
spiritual forces, and medicine to viewers who are able to open themselves to
what is conveyed. His sense of what
he refers to as Earth Angels begins with what everyone can see.
He then suggests focusing on the qualities it expresses, its radiance,
all of which is available to anybody who wants to experience the thing’s more
complete and subtle presence. This
“aura” is exactly what is presented to the senses.
It will emanate out to anyone who is able to look carefully at the
thing’s appearance, from which it is generated.
Based on my research, I would be doing a disservice by “declaring” any definitive way of creating Sacred Space. There are, however, common elements that seem to comprise Sacred Space. These elements are not in any order. Imagination is important. It is a direct connection to your creativity, and it is entirely possible that it is the preferred method that Spirit uses to communicate with you. Passion! You need to feel strongly about exactly what you intend to create. It has to mean something to you. Everything is energy. Energy is consciousness. Therefore everything, including what appears to the common human senses to be mere empty space, is alive. What you create is alive. The space “remembers” what has happened in it, going back from when it was constructed, back through time infinitum. You must respect whatever you feel when you enter a space, and trust that what needs to be revealed in each session will be revealed. Energy can be transformed from one form into another, the most obvious example is turning thought into action. Time and space are locked together; and all points in space, and all moments in time are connected. What is considered to be the sacred moment of the “NOW” can include this second or many lifetimes. Sacred objects in the space are only sacred if you make them that way. So if a picture of Jesus, Buddha or your Yogi Master is sacred to you, it will help in the creation of the space. Otherwise, they do not necessarily add anything to the space, unless they are sacred to whoever may come into the space. You may create Sacred Space utilizing geometric forms; or you may notice them through the act of creation. You may build upon the same one each time, or expand upon it through time. You are not in this world alone. Other people, including your client, have an affect on the space, and have exactly the same capacity to create as you do. This can make for some interesting co-creative energy; especially when who you are co-creating with is someone’s unconscious! In times like this it is important to maintain your focus and intent, so that the client may be brought into harmony through resonance with your loving intent to create a healing space. Your heart is the doorway to true reality. The energy of previous interactions stay in the space until you take measures to clear them. These “residues,” or energy ripples, accumulate around the edges of a room and build up in corners, nooks and crannies. Information about how to clear a particular space, or “set” Sacred Space, may be different from situation to situation. Be open to information coming from dreams, spirit guides, or intuition; then follow your guidance. Creating an energetic template for a space you know you will be coming into later can be an effective way to set the energy and boundaries of a specific space. Just as you could not feel something in someone else if it was not present in yourself, you could not feel the sacredness of the space if the sacredness were not in you. You need to consider the possibility that the space was sacred before you got to it. With the energy of your intention, you can amplify what is already there through Wave Mechanics. What you create, or help to create, will be there long after you are finished with it. Personal Experience of Vibrations in Sacred Space Feeling the Vibration of Food: You may be wondering what a discussion of the vibration of foods has to do with Sacred Space. Simply put, if you can train yourself to feel the energetic signature of specific foods, you can use the same “mechanism” to feel into the vibrations of the spaces you are in. Every kind of food, spice, drink or other staple has a specific energy signature. The only “food” that I have found that does not have a vibration is water, which seems to reflect your own vibrations back to you. This may explain why it is easy to “charge” water with healing energy. It reflects what it is exposed to. Another good reason to become familiar with the vibration of food is that you can use that familiarity to avoid foods you shouldn’t eat. Some time ago, I found that a dear friend was deathly allergic to a particular food spice. So I purchased some of that spice to become acquainted with its energy signature. I discovered that it felt “hot” and had a “spiky” quality to it. This came in very handy one day when we had gone to an up-scale restaurant to eat a salad. We had no idea that they had put that spice in the salad. Thanks to our ability to detect the energetic signature of that spice in the food, we avoided a very serious threat to her life. This may alter the way you shop for food at the grocery store. You could find yourself feeling the vibrations of the food you are choosing! Packaging has little or no effect on the vibrations of each item; you will easily be able to pick up the vibration through the paper, plastic, or other packaging material. Going to the grocery store has become one of my favorite activities over the years, walking down the center of each aisle feeling whatever is there. Every aisle is different. You may find yourself walking very slowly through the produce department taking in the many colors and vibrations! After a while, you may also begin to see, feel or sense the place that each item of food came from. So, you may feel into something like a typical processed dry cereal (like Cheerio’s) and see, feel or sense the factory it came from, or even the mood of the guy that packaged it! One way to begin awakening that sense is to imagine where each item came from when you pass your hand over it. Using what we already know about Wave Mechanics, harmony, resonance, and the holographic connection to all things, you will begin to see that each item resonates with information about where it’s been. Without much effort, you will soon become accustomed to not only the vibration of the particular food, but information accumulated by that item before your paths crossed. The same mechanism used for feeling the vibrations of food can be used to feel the vibrations in the space. When I am in the healing space, I stand in one corner of the room and use a “sweeping” motion to “comb out” unwanted vibration in the space. I am using the same sense in my hands, feeling for subtle shifts and changes in the vibrations of the space when my hands pass across them. For me, these subtle changes often feel like ripples, or rough areas when my hand passes by. Before every healing, I pass my hands about six, and then twelve inches along the healing table from “head to toe,” feeling for any residual unwanted vibration left there. There can be many different types of vibrations in the space. Left over emotions can feel sticky, sharp, dark or light as a feather. One time I walked into the healing space and found some very dark and jagged energy left over that had to be removed before I could proceed. I discovered later that my two step-daughters had been arguing in there. When I walk out of our seventh floor office and wait at the elevator, I can feel the vibrations of impatient people that have been waiting there, as well as the vibrations of a variety of other emotions. I know that some of it is my own, but knowing where I am vibrationally, helps me sort out what is mine and what isn’t mine. For that reason (and others), my preparation of the space for healing also includes the hallway, the elevator, and the lobby of the office building, as well as the healing room and the space that is occupied by the office itself. The mechanism used by each individual to commune with Spirit may be different for everyone; but the physics, or mechanics, of that communion involve intent, Wave Mechanics, harmony and resonance and are the same for everyone whether they realize it or not. My experience of Spirit is that it is of a very high vibration. It is also my experience that there are Spirits that are much lower in vibration, and they are attracted to darker and more dismal circumstances. I will limit my comment to the higher Spirits. It has been established that there are different chakras and levels of the field by Barbara Brennan and others before her. Just as there are different levels of the field, there are Spirits on different “levels” of vibration or dimensions of existence. It follows that if you wish to commune with a particular one, that you need to be able to hold a harmonic of that vibration for an extended time. For example, it is common knowledge that each of the chakras is associated with a particular color, and a particular sound. That is to say, that you can “charge” a chakra by utilizing a specific color or sound. A color is not a sound, obviously; the reason either one will work is that both the color and the sound are a harmonic of that chakras vibration. So if you come into harmony with the fifth chakra, you will actually have changed your vibrations to some harmonic of that level. This is the process used to connect to the fifth level spiritual surgeons. When I come into communion with Spirit, I perceive the vibration to be so high that it no longer feels like a vibration. It feels like a “field” of energy, or much like what it feels like to be standing in a particular color of light. The fact is that no matter what vibration I come into harmony with, I find that Spirit is there; which seems to be in harmony with Barbara Brennan’s discovery that there is a “template level” for all of the lower levels of the field. (For instance, the sixth level of the field is the template for the second.) The logical extension of this, is that Spirit is everywhere matter is, and that Sacred Space is everywhere. One Experience of Creating Sacred Space: Early in 1999, we received word that a friend was getting married. She asked me to “set the energy” of the space. She asked me to set the energy because she knew that the vibrations of Sacred Space were a passion of mine. As the wedding date approached, I was unclear about just how I was going set and hold this space. I prayed for guidance, and trusted that it would come to me. Two weeks before the wedding, one of my spirit guides, who always talks to me in pictures in my dreams, showed me in a dream the place where the wedding would take place. In the dream, I saw the crowd in attendance as if I were in the back of the room. I saw their Hara lines all waving back and forth, as if they were all a field of tall grass blowing back and forth in a swirling wind. I saw everyone with their own agendas, mixed intentions, judgments, expectations of children, and notions concerning the bride and groom. As soon as I realized through that dream that all of that chaotic energy might negatively affect the bride and groom, the dream shifted and I was shown a triad of healers setting an energetic template in the space, from a remote place. The template was to be a “container” that held the bride and groom in perfect unconditional love, without the pressure of anybody else’s agenda, ideas, judgments or intentions weighing on the wedding party. The dream showed the crowd coming into alignment with the energy of the template, into harmony with unconditional love in Sacred Space. On the day of the wedding, two other healers and I sat down in a triad, all facing each other, and began setting an energetic template for the wedding. We simply considered the space between all three healers to “be" that wedding space. We all focused on creating a space of unconditional love that would hold the bride and groom, and all of the participants in a beautiful state of consciousness, free from any other intentions or agendas. It felt like a very strong and powerful template had been created. We used the energetic aspects of harmony, resonance, amplitude, Wave Mechanics, Quantum physics, and the holographic model of reality in creating this template. That evening, when we stepped into the space two hours before the wedding, we all could feel the presence of the template that had been set. It looked exactly like the place in the dream. I sat in the back, just as I had seen it in the dream. There was a bit of work to do in clearing some chaotic energy left in the room from previous events, and “combing out” some of the inharmonious vibrations presently in the space. But for the most part, all we had to do was to build on the energy of the template that was already present. Just before the wedding, a recent BBSH graduate was doing a meditation with a friend nearby. She remarked later that it was one of the most powerful meditations she could remember, and remarked to her friend that “something was going on.” When she finally entered the space for the wedding, she said that there was a powerful geometric form in the center that extended out to every wall. She said that she saw a bright central column of light, surrounded by a huge “tube torus” that filled the room. She saw that Sally and I were building on the energy of the form in that space during the ceremony. Other healers in attendance at the wedding also remarked that the energy of the space felt wonderful, and very sacred and powerful. This is just one example of
how Sacred Space can be created and used. Conclusion There are many ways to create Sacred Space. In every sacred space the objects in that space, as well as the space itself, are vibrating in very harmonious ways. These vibrations support the purpose for the space. Sacred Space can be created non-locally (Bell’s Interconnectedness Theorem), and this is due at least in part to Quantum physics and the holographic model of reality. Aspects of Newtonian physics such as amplitude, harmony, resonance, Wave Mechanics are at work in the space always, in a dynamic dance with energy and consciousness. Information about the creation of Sacred Space can come from dreams, guides, intuition or other non-physical resources. What is created will exist beyond the short period of time it was created for. There may be secondary effects from that creation that you had not thought of when you created it. Thank you for sharing my passion for the Vibrations of Sacred Space! I encourage anyone who is so inclined to call or write to me with their own personal experience and perception of the physics of reality and Sacred Space.
